Fire Hydrants–A Message From Fire Co. 5

Keep Our Fire Hydrants Clear This Winter!

As winter settles in, it is important to remember the role we all play in keeping our community safe. One simple yet crucial task is ensuring that fire hydrants are clear of snow. This small effort can make an enormous difference in an emergency. Here is how you can help:

Locate the Hydrant: Find the fire hydrant nearest to your home.

Clear a Path: Shovel a path from the street to the hydrant. Make sure it is wide enough for firefighters to walk through easily.

Clear Around the Hydrant: Remove snow from all sides of the hydrant, creating a clear space of at least three feet around it. This ensures that firefighters can connect hoses without any obstructions.

By taking these steps, you can help ensure that fire hydrants remain accessible and functional, potentially saving lives and property in the event of a fire. Thank you for helping to keep our community safe!

Stay warm and safe this winter!
