February President’s Message–Warm Hearts In Winter

February – Warm Hearts in Winter

President’s Message

Even in the heart of winter, Packanack Lake holds a special kind of charm. As the lake rests frozen, it reminds us of the quiet beauty and strong sense of community that define life here year-round. February is a time to celebrate friendship, lend a helping hand to our neighbors, and appreciate the cozy, connected spirit of lake life that brings us together—even on the coldest days.

Goings On Around the Lake

The Township is working with its vendor on an updated schedule for finalizing the dredging and next steps. Please continue to use caution in this area.

Please use caution on the lake during this time of year. PLCA does not test ice conditions, and any ice skating is done at your own risk.

Wayne, NJ prohibits street parking between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. throughout the township, as stated in the eCode360 parking regulations. This ordinance is designed to aid in snow removal and for police safety checks. The Township has been leaving notices on vehicles parked on streets overnight with the increased snow accumulation.

Reminder: If you have not already done so, please provide your contact e-mail and address using the link from the blog and Packanack website. Please be sure to add noreply@townsq.io to your e-mail contacts to prevent messages from going to your junk folder. More information will be shared as we continue to roll out TownSq.

Club Spotlight: Grounds Committee

Headed by the PLCA Grounds Governor, the Packanack Lake Community Association Grounds Committee plays a vital role in preserving the beauty, safety, and functionality of our shared outdoor spaces. From lakefront areas to common grounds and landscaped entrances, the committee works year-round to ensure these spaces are well maintained, welcoming, and reflective of the pride we all share in our community. Their efforts often go unnoticed—because when the grounds are properly cared for, everything simply looks and feels right—but that consistency is the result of thoughtful planning, hands-on work, and close coordination with our staff and vendors.

Looking ahead to 2026, the Grounds Committee remains focused on proactive maintenance and long-term stewardship. Priorities include following up on remediation work along the peninsula after the disruption caused by dredging, continuing planting and landscaping in areas of need, and maintaining the Memorial Tree Program. By balancing immediate needs with long-range planning, the committee helps ensure that Packanack Lake remains a beautiful and enjoyable place for current members and future generations. We thank the volunteers who serve on this committee for their continued dedication and commitment to our community.

See you around the lake,

David Bowie
