March–Signs of Spring–President’s Message

March – Signs of Spring

President’s Message:

As the ice melts and the first signs of spring appear, excitement builds for the busy months ahead. March is when we prepare the lake, plan events, and begin to ready our beaches and facilities for the warmer days to come.

Goings On Around the Lake

We have some exciting news for our Packanack Lake community. We look forward to welcoming new business neighbors to PLCA.

Many of you have noticed that the former bar and restaurant building has been sold. The new owner is giving the space a fresh look and will be opening Lake Drive Tavern, a modern tavern-style restaurant featuring quality food and cocktails in a family-friendly environment. Currently on track for March opening.

In addition, the former pizza shop and dry cleaner spaces are being combined and transformed into Sweet Kitchen, a modern bakery with successful locations in Montclair and Ridgewood. They plan to bring the same wonderful offerings to our lake community. Currently on track for early summer opening.

What makes both of these additions especially meaningful is that they are owned and operated by lake residents who understand and appreciate Packanack Lake and the spirit of our community. I believe they will be terrific additions to our neighborhood, and I look forward to supporting their success.

We have contacted the Town and still waiting for information on finalizing the dredging and next steps, they are currently expecting to resume work in April and complete by June. Please continue to use caution in this area.

As the snow continues to clear from the other PLCA parking lots, we will reopen them for member parking. This will provide additional access for those looking to walk around the lake.

Spotlight: Membership Meeting

The upcoming Packanack Lake Association Membership Meeting provides residents with an opportunity to stay informed about lake operations, community initiatives, and upcoming events, while also offering a forum to ask questions and share feedback. We are especially fortunate that the Mayor joins us to provide an update on what’s happening in the wider Wayne community, offering valuable insight into township matters that impact our lake. During the meeting, we will also announce our Volunteer of the Year, recognizing the dedication and service that help make Packanack Lake such a special place.

PLCA holds two membership meetings annually, and this is your opportunity to learn firsthand what the Board has been working on. As an added bonus, one lucky member in attendance will win a year of free dues. I look forward to seeing many of you there.

See you around the lake,

David Bowie

PLCA President
