We invite all members to join the Garden Club on Thursday, March 16, at 7:00 pm in the Clubhouse for the presentation Going Native Without Feeding Bambi, given by Lourdes Osorio. Gardeners are increasingly becoming aware of their role in creating gardens that are beautiful AND provide habitat for butterflies, bees, and other pollinators. This is best accomplished by using native plants, an extremely challenging task throughout much of New Jersey as native plants are deer favorites. This lecture discusses deer-resistant native plants, their growing requirements and their value to pollinators. It will help you save time and money on plant selection as you create your own paradise. Lourdes Osorio has been a passionate gardener for over 25 years, and enjoys gardening not only for beauty but to provide an eco-friendly sanctuary for butterflies, bees, and other pollinators. She is the creator of the Native Plant Channel on YouTube and Facebook, an educational channel that produces videos that help gardeners grow native plants. Lourdes is an educator, a Rutgers Certified Master Gardener, a member of the Board of Directors as well as a curator of the native plant garden at Laurelwood Arboretum in Wayne. |
